Monument Health in Rapid City is seeking a full-time BE/BC Trauma/ACS Surgeon to join a busy Trauma/ACS group with an emphasis on high-quality patient care, collegiality, and a satisfying work environment.

Monument Health Rapid City Hospital (a 417-bed regional tertiary care, Level 2 Trauma Center) that covers a 5-state region.  State-of-the-art equipment and experienced staff, including OR first assists and 24-hour robotics support. The full range of medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties are available to support the trauma/ACS service, including outstanding neurosurgery, ortho trauma, plastic surgery, vascular surgery, and all other surgical specialties on-call. Strong critical care, hospitalist, interventional cardiology, advanced endoscopy, interventional radiology, and other services are available and experienced in trauma and acute care surgery needs related care. Collegial, physician-driven environment with active physician leadership in the organization.

Strong, 24-hour APP support while on service. 91 daytime shifts and 60 nighttime shifts annually, with additional shifts or elective cases being occasionally available if desired. Daytime shifts are 10 hours; night-time shifts are 14 hours. Two surgeons on service during the daytime, daytime surgeons alternate providing backup for the night-time in-house surgeon. There are already 5 full-time trauma/ACS surgeons on staff, and this position is to replace elective surgeons who had been previously covering trauma/ACS shifts. Ability and willingness to handle basic acute care emergencies for bariatric surgery and colorectal surgery patients is a must, as we have full-time subspecialists in those specialties on staff.
