Description

The Business Manager oversees and manages the financial affairs of the Colton School District. This position ensures the fiscal integrity of the district by planning, organizing, and directing financial operations in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Business Manager collaborates with district administrators, auditors, and staff to maintain sound budgeting, payroll, purchasing, and reporting systems that support effective decision-making and resource allocation.

Requirements

        Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.

        Minimum of three years of responsible accounting or financial management experience, preferably in a school district or public agency.

        Knowledge of Washington State financial reporting requirements and procedures for public schools.

        Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret complex financial reports and data.

        Proficiency with computerized financial systems and Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel and Word.

        Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, board members, auditors, and the community.

        Ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate integrity, and work independently with minimal supervision.

        Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.

        Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

        Knowledge of budgeting, purchasing, and inventory control practices.

        Experience in managing payroll and employee benefits processes.

        Familiarity with state and federal grant accounting and reporting requirements.

        Understanding of internal controls and audit procedures.

        Ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively as part of a team.
