School of Medicine seeks a fellowship-trained Thoracic Surgeon to join our expanding East
Bay Cancer Care Program. The position will be based at the Stanford Medicine - Sutter Health Cancer Center in Oakland, CA, which is a Joint Venture and will function as a central hub for comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer care. The newly built Center in Oakland features state-of-the-art outpatient clinic space, ambulatory surgery center, infusion treatment area, as well as diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology facilities. Inpatient surgical care will be provided at the adjacent Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. Tertiary resources will be available at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA as needed and conducting clinical care at the Stanford Main Campus as a small fraction of total effort is potentially possible.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish a robust, subspecialized clinical program, supported by a team of inpatient/outpatient Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and 24-hour hospitalist coverage. Emergency room coverage is not mandatory, except for established or postoperative patients; weekend coverage will be shared. The position will include opportunities to participate in the education of fellows and residents and to participate in Stanford clinical research. Strong integration with the main Stanford campus in Palo Alto will be prioritized through joint faculty meetings, grand rounds, tumor boards, as well as research and teaching conferences. Ample access to clinical and academic mentorship will be available through the broader Stanford Division of Thoracic Surgery and Stanford Cancer Center communities.
The position will be at the Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor level in the Clinician Educator Line (CE) at Stanford University. The major criterion for appointment for Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administration and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
Pursuant to California statute, the salary range is provided. The expected base pay range for this position is:
Clinical Assistant Professor: $280,000 to $341,000
Clinical Associate Professor: $420,000 to $450,000
This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine’s faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs. For more information about compensation and our wide-range of benefits, including housing assistance, please contact the hiring department.
