we are looking for an adventurous, competent Nurse Practitioner to supervise our small health center.

Come spend the summer at Camp Winnebago’s Health Center on the shores of beautiful Echo Lake in central Maine. Work as part of a vibrant four-person health care team (three RNs, one NP - that's you!) serving a 200-person community.
You will lead our small medical team and report directly to the Camp Director. This team is advised by an MD Medical Director who visits camp once a week and consults with you. The season runs from approximately June 14 - August 15, 2026.
Winnebago is a legendary sleepaway camp where our boys come and stay with us for 7 weeks at a time. Each summer, our small camp becomes a true community, and you would be part of that.
If your professional life affords you discretionary time during the summer, or if your life has provided you with a stretch of open calendar (such as if you are a travel NP between contracts!) this job is for you!
The Winnebago staff is composed of about 60 counselors ranging in age from 19--70. Employees come from all over the US and the world. They are all interesting and dynamic people who have a broad range of life experiences. Working at Winnebago is an opportunity to improve your personal and professional skills and make great friends, all while enjoying the summer amidst a beautiful setting. You will work hard keeping our community healthy and safe. In turn, the community will reward you as you become an integral part of our beloved summer camp. Everyone here knows everyone else.
Our compensation package includes a competitive salary, travel, housing, meals and food, laundry, uniform, internet, and time off to explore Maine and surrounding areas. We also offer an inexpensive no-deductible health insurance policy.

we are looking forward to hearing from you.
Requirements
Our summer NP functions as a central aspect of Winnebago's health team. You would lead our camp health clinic (our "Health Center") for our summer camp as the campers and staff go about their days.
Winnebago is an intentionally-small, bustling, active, and enchanting community. Our boys engage in so many activities and sports that they are too numerous to list. This means that bumps and bruises as well as emotions and general child-related big feelings are common. Serious illness and injury are rare, but do occur occasionally.
Our best Health Center staff are detail-oriented, low-drama, good-humored, team-oriented professionals who love working with young people.
In your case, this is all true, but to this we would also add being a clear and competent leader.
General duties include:
Serving as the leader of the Health Center Staff under the supervision of our Medical Director, an MD, and the Camp Director.
Advising camp leadership about health-and-safety related issues
Contributing to and executing the camp-wide health preventative health program (hand-washing, hygiene, skin checks, etc) along with general staff and leadership.
Responding to acute illness and injury.
Interfacing with local EMS in case of an emergency.
Keeping an eye on larger "public health" trends and issues in our community (hydration during hot stretches, sleep levels, tiredness, etc)
Keeping excellent records (treatment logs, MARs)
Leading your team as they function as a crucial facet in the preparation and execution of many camp operations: wilderness trips, inter-camp competitions, opening and closing of camp, etc)
Arranging staff schedules, time off, and night shifts.
Supervising the MAR and the Treatment Log
Daily duties include:
AM med pass before breakfast
Post-breakfast "clinic" hour - effectively a camp-wide sick call
Posted hours in AM and PM to handle walk-ins (discouraged and only permitted if an injury is sustained)
Pre dinner "clinic"
PM med pass after evening activity and before bedtime
[each day trip and wilderness trip take meds and other health equipment with them - epi-pens, inhalers, etc. This gets prepped and re-prepped daily by the Health Center]
