We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN). The Registered Nurse (RN) will assure that each individual assigned to his/her caseload receives quality, individualized health care management resulting in optimal health. Health care will be provided to individuals in a manner, which is normalizing, sensitive to their needs and respectful of their dignity, while encouraging autonomy. The RN functions as a health resource to staff and will, in conjunction with supervisors, assure that the home is in compliance with all licensure requirements and organizational policies regarding health issues, medical care and records.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Assess each individual’s health care needs on an annual and “as needed” basis to be determined by the interdisciplinary team.
- Assure medical referrals and orders are secured to meet the medical needs of the individuals.
- Assure physician’s orders, including medications and treatments are implemented as ordered.
- Identify potential sources of communicable diseases and implement appropriate protection and preventative measures.
- Report the presence of communicable diseases to appropriate personnel and agencies as deemed necessary per state, federal regulations and organizational policies.
- Provide and participate in an individual’s health care related instruction in cooperation with Program Directors.
- Assist in the coordination of use of outside health care related professionals, promoting the quality and availability of their services.
- Act as a liaison between medical professionals and Dungarvin staff.
- Monitor the services the services are of quality and meet individual needs.
Requirements
- Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Mexico is mandatory.
- Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and a driving record that meets agency insurance policy requirements are non-negotiable.
- Prior education and/or experience in working with developmentally disabled individuals, long-term care, or home health care is highly valued.
- Competency in computer software applications is imperative.
- Demonstrated maturity, flexibility, and self-motivation are essential.
- Proven dependability and ability to work cooperatively with individuals, staff, interdisciplinary team members, and outside agencies are crucial.
- Successful clearance of a criminal background check for licensing requirement
- Good communication is key in this role. You’ll rely on your reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.
