Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute (AHMHI) is hiring a board-certified or board-eligible cardiac surgeon for a full-time adult cardiac surgery position in Minneapolis–Saint Paul, Minnesota. This is an employed cardiothoracic surgery opportunity within a high-volume, academically engaged program.
AHMHI is a nationally recognized cardiovascular institute providing comprehensive cardiac and vascular care across the Twin Cities metropolitan region. Our cardiac surgery practice serves patients at multiple Allina Health hospitals — including Abbott Northwestern, Mercy, and United Hospitals — supported by a network of cardiologists, cardiac intensivists, advanced practice providers, perfusionists, and specialized cardiovascular nursing teams.

Responsibilities
The successful cardiac surgeon will:
- Provide comprehensive evaluation and management of adult cardiac surgery patients
- Perform the full spectrum of adult cardiac surgical procedures, including:
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
- Valve repair and replacement
- Aortic surgery
- Mechanical circulatory support procedures
- Other complex cardiac surgical interventions
- Participate in hospital-based and outpatient clinical care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary cardiovascular teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Contribute to quality improvement, education, and program development initiatives
- Share call responsibilities with the cardiac surgery team
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent)
- Completion of an accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency or fellowship training program
- Board certified or board eligible in thoracic surgery (ABTS)
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Minnesota
