Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our cardiovascular healthcare team as a Nocturnal Inpatient Liaison. In this role, you will provide specialized, high-quality care, preventive management, and ongoing health maintenance for a select group of acute cardiovascular patients. You will serve as the critical overnight clinical anchor for the Cardiovascular Center, managing complex post-procedural and chronic cardiac patients during 12-hour night shifts.
Schedule & Shift Details
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts.
- Work-Life Balance: One to two weekend shifts per month.
- Setting: Inpatient Cardiovascular Center / Nocturnal Liaison.
Core Responsibilities
- Inpatient Overnight Management: Monitor, assess, and manage the overnight care of a specialized cardiovascular patient population, responding rapidly to acute clinical changes.
- Collaborative Care: Partner with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to execute care plans, facilitate smooth handoffs, and act as the dedicated night liaison for the cardiovascular service line.
- Comprehensive Patient Care: Participate in the continuous care of well, acutely ill, and chronically ill patients, ensuring continuity, safety, and high-quality health maintenance.
- Documentation & Communication: Maintain precise electronic health records, provide accurate shift-to-shift reports, and communicate critical patient updates to attending physicians and daytime teams.
Patient Population Managed
You will independently monitor and manage a complex patient panel overnight, including:
- Advanced Heart Failure and post-LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) patients.
- Post-interventional patients (Post-Cardiac Stent, post-TAVR, and Mitra-clip/structural heart cases).
- Electrophysiology (EP) post-procedural patients (Atrial Fibrillation Ablation, new pacemaker/ICD implantations).
- Post-operative cardiothoracic surgery patients (Post-CABG and valve surgeries transitioning from the UMA CT Surgery unit).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted state license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN/NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
- Certification: Board certification appropriate for acute care inpatient management (e.g., AGACNP-BC or PA-C).
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of dedicated Cardiology or Cardiovascular Surgery experience is highly preferred (strong cardiology background required).
- Acute Care certified required
- Skills: Proficient in managing complex cardiac hardware, interpreting telemetry, managing vasoactive infusions, and navigating post-structural/post-surgical cardiac complications.
- Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
