Cleveland Clinic announces its search for the Department Chair of Vascular Surgery within the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute (HVTI). This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished vascular surgeon and collaborative physician leader to guide a high-performing department with a substantial clinical footprint, nationally recognized quality, robust educational programs, and a strong research portfolio. The Chair will advance the department’s clinical, academic, educational, and strategic priorities while supporting the mission of “Caring for life, researching for health, and educating those who serve.”
The Department Chair of Vascular Surgery reports to the Chief of the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute and also supports Cleveland Clinic’s international enterprise operations in London and Abu Dhabi.
The Department of Vascular Surgery includes 37 staff physicians, with 28 based in Ohio and nine in Florida, as well as 24 advanced practice providers serving patients across the enterprise. The department provides care throughout Northern Ohio, Central and Southern Florida, and Florida’s Treasure Coast. In 2025, the department performed more than 9,500 surgical cases, including approximately 8,250 in Ohio and 1,250 in Florida. Its vascular laboratories completed more than 90,000 studies, and the department supported more than 36,000 evaluation and management visits.
The department’s comprehensive programs and clinical resources include the Aortic Center, Peripheral Artery Disease Center, Dialysis Center, Vein Centers, Wound Care Clinic, and Vascular Core Laboratory. Reflecting a sustained commitment to quality and outcomes, the program has earned a three-star rating through the Vascular Quality Initiative for eight consecutive years.
A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be consistent with fair market value and determined after taking various factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, % of FTE and board certification. This is not inclusive of the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package, which includes among other benefits, healthcare/dental/vision, and retirement. A faculty appointment at a rank that matches their experience is available at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Board Certification and eligibility for licensure in the State of Ohio are required.
