Why this role
Cardiology of Southern California is an independent, physician-owned cardiology and internal medicine practice serving National City and El Cajon, with a third location opening on the Scripps Encinitas campus. You will work directly with Dr. Albert Sharf, our board-certified cardiologist, in a practice that owns its full diagnostic suite in-house: echocardiography, nuclear stress testing, mobile cardiac telemetry (MCOT), remote patient monitoring (RPM), loop recorders, and vascular services.
That means you will manage the whole cardiovascular workup, not just the referral. You order the study, review the result with the cardiologist the same week, and adjust the plan yourself. NPs who want to build real cardiology depth, and want a growth path into a larger multi-site group, do very well here.
Our patients are the community: more than half of our panel speaks Spanish or Arabic as a first language. If you are bilingual, you will be the provider many of our families ask for by name.
What you will do
Manage outpatient patients with hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hyperlipidemia, and valvular disease, in collaboration with Dr. Sharf.
Perform comprehensive histories, physicals, and pre-operative cardiac risk assessments.
Order and interpret ECGs, stress tests, echocardiograms, Holter and event monitors, MCOT, and labs; co-manage RPM and loop-recorder patients.
Prescribe and titrate guideline-directed medical therapy under standardized procedures.
Provide post-hospitalization and transitional care follow-up.
Educate patients and families on medications, diet, activity, and risk-factor modification.
Document in the EMR, respond to patient messages, review results, and coordinate referrals and follow-up with primary care.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, Medicare, and practice policies.

Requirements
Active California NP license (furnishing number) and national certification as FNP, AGPCNP, or AGACNP
DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain
Current BLS
Strong clinical assessment and communication skills; EMR proficiency
Preferred
2+ years of NP experience in cardiology or internal medicine
ACLS
ECG interpretation experience
Spanish or Arabic fluency (strongly preferred)
New graduates with cardiac RN or CCU/cath lab backgrounds are encouraged to apply; we precept and support the transition-to-practice pathway
