The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit while promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care using the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care. The role emphasizes patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies their educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care and mentoring or precepting staff. Job Responsibilities: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care, reviewing and revising it as indicated. Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of patients and families. Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions. Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs during their stay and at discharge. Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor or preceptor while demonstrating and encouraging teamwork. Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement appropriately. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes. Complies with regulatory standards and participates in the Practice Governance model.
